A device must be provided in the electrical installation which allows the

appliance to be disconnected from the mains at all poles with a contact

opening width of at least 3 mm.

Suitable isolation devices include line protecting cut-outs, fuses (screw

type fuses are to be removed from the holder), earth leakage trips and

contactors.

• In order to facilitate access if servicing is required, there must be a

space the size of the cut-out section in the worktop and 150mm high

under the hob. Anything installed in this area, e.g. anti-shock protec-

tion, must be easily removable.

Sticking the seal in the rabbet

• Clean the rabbet in the work surface.

• Stick the one-sided self-adhesive sealing tape supplied onto the up-

per surface of the rabbet along the edges of the cut-out section.

– Cut the sealing tape into four pieces relating to the length of the

edges of the rabbet.

– For the four corners of the rabbet the ends of the sealing tapes

must be cut into mitres. Do not stick the ends over one another.

– Stick the sealing tape flush into the corner of the rabbet, so that no

silicon compound can get under the glass ceramic when grouting.

– Don’t stretch the tapes when sticking them on.

• If installing flush with the work surface, use the sealing tape with di-

mensions 10x3mm.

Sticking on the seal

• Clean the worktop around the cut-out area.

• Stick the single-sided adhesive sealing tape provided on the under-

side of the hob around the outside edge ensuring that it is not

stretched. The two ends of the tape should join in the middle of one

side. After trimming the tape (allow it to overlap by 2-3 mm), press

the two ends together.

• If installing proud of the work surface, use the sealing tape with di-

mensions 6x2mm.
